Capacitating of IT-BPM firms, exporters in Negros gets boost

THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through its attached agency Export Management Bureau (EMB), is pushing for the capacitating of information technology-business process management (IT-BPM) firms in Negros Occidental.

The agency, through the Regional Interactive Platform for the Philippine Exporters (Ripples) Plus program, is initiating a capacity-building seminar at Business Inn Hotel in Bacolod City on December 12.

Engiemar Tupas, senior trade and industry development specialist of DTI-Negros Occidental, said the activity will gather local firms providing IT-BPM and other related services.

Tupas said they are also tapping exporters in the province and entrepreneurs who would like to venture in the exporting business to participate.

"The activity aims to provide the needed interventions identified for IT-BPM services," he said, adding that it will reinforce the competitiveness of the firms under the sector.

The initiative is also positioned to further equip participants with the necessary tools and information on export trade development and promotion, Tupas added.

The free seminar includes sessions on understanding export services and update on the country’s IT-BPM industry.

It will also underscore the global market and opportunities for IT-BPM amid the Asean economic integration, and business intelligence and trends.

DTI-Negros Occidental urged those interested to coordinate with their office through telephone numbers 432-7223 or 434-7920.

The confirmation period is until December 8 only, it added.
