PlayLab to boost children’s imagination

PHILIPPINES’ first digital playground is bringing 14 new interactive and educational attractions for kids and young at heart starting Sunday, December 3, at the Robinsons Galleria Cebu.

In a press conference held on Friday, December 1, the PlayLab management said they brought the playground in Robinsons because the store brings something different and is still new given that it was built two years ago.

PlayLab has futuristic visual arts and 3D graphics like the Quantum Space that lets you create abstract art through movements such as standing, walking, and moving around an interactive video.

The crazy holographic 3D glasses world of Head Rush lets you dodge the obstacle courses to reach the finish line.

Musical genius can also enjoy the Music Wall, which creates melodies and produces symphony with just one tap of a hand. You can enjoy it with your friends, too.

Kids who love racing can drive their virtual cars in the Room Racers, which uses wireless game controllers and projector with infrared cameras to detect movements. The race track is adjustable for adding checkpoints, start and finish lines.

PlayLab also includes the cool augmented-reality (AR) mirror that uses body recognition and transform you into one of the Zodiac animals in the World of Zodiacs.

Live Forest is also a hype booster as it can bring your colored creations into digital reality through a scanning board.

Other attractions also give euphoric feeling such as the SensaCell where you can create rhythmic color combination through touch-sensitive light modules.

The Tangram lets you make your own virtual rocket ship. Just press “Launch” to start your adventure.

Save the Reef teaches and reminds kids to protect Mother Earth by catching trash.

There’s also a Growth Chart that uses sensors to measure your real height.

You can also take the plunge and slide down a projected jungle in the Slide. Slide gives you an interactive visual projections and sensors that will take you to see the exotic fish, budding plants and cool water.

You can also design your own butterfly in the Butterfly Wall, which uses high-impact scanning and full animations for your creations.

The Sand Box turns layers of sands into a reality with the use of 3D cameras.

You can also create and form patterns and shapes of different acrylic pegs in the Light Bright activity course.

The PlayLab is open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Greens, Level 1.

Entrance fee is P250 per person for two hours on weekends and P200 per person for two hours on weekdays. An additional fee of P100 will be paid for every succeeding hour.

Children below 6 years old should be accompanied by a guardian, who must fill out an admission form.

Bringing of food and drinks within the vicinity are prohibited and all customers are advised to wear socks inside the play area.
