Grand food fest to highlight Pampanga culinary tradition

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Nineteen municipalities and two cities from Pampanga are set to showcase their best “lutong barrio” specialties during the Kapampangan Food Festival slated on December 7 at Fontana Leisure Estate in Clark Freeport.

The grand food festival, which aims to showcase the province’s native and authentic delicacies, as well as promote Kapampangan culinary heritage, is part of the week-long celebration of the 446th Aldo Ning Kapampangan (Pampanga Day), which kicks off Wednesday, December 6.

Over 2,000 guests from all over the country and abroad are expected to join the event, which will also feature culinary offerings from well-acclaimed Kapampangan chefs like Sau Del Rosario, Claude Tayag, Howard Dizon, Lourdes Castro, Judy Uson, and Chloe Ann Caugiran, among others.

Moreover, exhibitors, namely, Susie’s Cusine, Carreon’s Delicacy, Delyn’s Delicacy, My Lola Nor’s, and Taldawa Kambingan, will also be present during the annual food fest organized by the Provincial Government and Culinaria Pampanga, a network of chefs/restaurateurs from the province.

In a statement, Culinaria Pampanga said that it is the organization’s vision to establish Pampanga, further as a Culinary Capital of the Philippines, through the festival.

“It is our aim to elevate our cuisine through spearheading the Kapampangan Food Festival, which will promote and pass on the culinary traditions of Pampanga, as we recognize the global influences which continue to shape the Pampanga foodscape,” it noted.

“We believe that by actively participating in the celebration of Pampanga Day, we are fulfilling our mission to uplift Kapampangan food tourism,” it added.

Aside from the food expo, a car show and street dance presentation will also highlight the Pampanga Day celebrations.

The celebration will culminate with the coronation of Mutya Ning Kapampangan on December 10 and the awarding of the Most Outstanding Kapampangan on December 11.
