3 boys set grenade on fire, die

THREE teenagers were killed after they burned an M203 grenade at Purok 9, Barangay Daliaon Plantation, Toril, Davao City.

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson Police Senior Inspector Ma. Teresita Gaspan said the incident happened around 5:10 p.m. on Sunday.

Central 911 informed the DCPO about the incident.

Based on the initial investigation conducted by authorities, about 4 p.m. on Sunday, a certain Rocky Peler Limposanan Alagenio, banana plantation worker and a resident of Purok 5, Barangay Daliaon Plantation, Toril, Davao City, discovered that his two sons including his nephew were lying on the ground dead.

The victims were identified as Rain John Verano Alagenio, 15; Algen Verano Alagenio, 13, both residing at Purok 5, Barangay Daliaon Plantation, Toril, Davao City and Julio Leoberos Limposanan, 17 Years old, and a resident of Purok 9, Barangay Daliaon, Toril, Davao City.

"Allegedly they found an M203 grenade inside their relative's farm lot located at Purok 9, Barangay Daliaon Plantation, Toril then burned it, which caused the explosion and their instantaneous deaths," Gaspan said.

Also recovered from the area was one piece head of unexploded M203 grenade now at the custody of DCPO and will be turned over to Explosive Ordnance Unit.

The victims' remains are at Villa Funeral Homes, McleodToril, Davao City.
