A DRUG personality died while a bystander was injured after they were shot by two unidentified men on a motorcycle at Bagong Dalan in Purok Kingfisher A, Barangay 16, Bacolod City at 9:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Killed was Harold Tornilla, 38, of Purok Adarna, Barangay 16. He was under the drugs watchlist of Police Station 1.
Wounded was Jessie Lamparero, 26, of Purok Mapinalanggaon, Barangay 35.
Senior Inspector Leo Estopa, head of Police Station 1, said Tornilla was standing beside the road when the assailants arrived, and fired at him at close range.
Lamparero, who was sitting nearby, was hit by a stray bullet. He sustained a lone gunshot wound in his left leg.
Both were rushed to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, where Tornilla was died several minutes later due to multiple gunshot wounds.
Police recovered from the scene of the crime seven bullets of .45 caliber pistol. They also found a knife, P3,000 in cash, weighing scale, and a belt bag.
Estopa said the incident might be drug-related or triggered by something personal, adding that Tornilla has a previous drug case and was not able to surrender through Oplan Tokhang.
They have no lead yet on the identities of the perpetrators, he added.
