Parties at SRP ‘mean less chances of riots, stampedes’

THE Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 is aiming for a zero-incident Sinulog celebration next month.

Chief Supt. Jose Espino said that if the parties will be moved to the South Road Properties (SRP), instead of near the parade route, there would be less chances of stampedes and rumbles.

“We still have to pinpoint where the parties will be held this week,” Espino said.

Police visibility will be doubled for the Sinulog celebration, he said.

“Our intention is that there will be no rowdy crowd, learning from last year’s incident,” Espino said.

Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña wants a ban on parties and liquor in areas surrounding the parade and procession routes for next year’s Sinulog.

He also plans to provide an area in SRP for those who want to hold outdoor parties. (JOB)
