Explosives found behind house in Sagay; boy hurt

A BOY aged between five and eight years old was injured after he was hit by powder burns from an unknown explosive that ignited behind his house at Purok United, Barangay Fabrica, Sagay City Monday afternoon.

Chief Inspector Robert Mansueto, city police chief, said Romeo Arais, 22, informed the police that he found seven unknown explosives buried at the back of their house while digging a hole for a septic tank.

One of the seven deformed explosives ignited and caused minor burns to a boy. Another explosive fell into the water well.

Police cordoned the area because the explosives can still be active, and advised the homeowners to leave their house for safety.

Mansueto said he assigned personnel to check the area while they are waiting for the Explosive Ordnance Dispersal (EOD) team from Iloilo City.

Stray bullet

A 14-year-old-boy was hit by a stray bullet along the national highway of Taytay Tayabas, Barangay Zone 8 in Talisay City, Negros Occidental early Tuesday morning.

The victim’s name was withheld by the police.

Investigation showed the minor-victim was walking along the bridge when he heard a gunshot around 3 a.m.

Then he discovered that he was hit in the buttocks.

He was rushed to a hospital.

Investigation is ongoing.
