Karapatan to hold march on Int’l Human Rights Day

HUMAN rights group Karapatan-Negros will hold a march during the 70th year of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10.

The group said in a statement Wednesday it has been a year and four months since President Rodrigo Duterte sat in power and launched his “wars against the people” that allegedly claimed thousands of lives.

“Duterte’s promise of change is an illusion. Human rights violations in the countryside intensify as his close allies continue to victimize civilians in their counter-insurgency program to sow terror among the people,” Karapatan further said.

In Negros, the group claimed that intensified military operations caused massive human rights violations.

Karapatan also claimed that Duterte’s war on drugs through Oplan Tokhang failed to resolve the problem on drugs since the culture of impunity reigns to allegedly protect the drug lords and kill every single drug addict. (TDE)
