Couple hacked to death in Guba village, Cebu City

A COUPLE was hacked to death by an unidentified assailant in Sitio Catibis in the mountain barangay of Guba, Cebu City on Wednesday night, December 6, the police reported.

Senior Police Officer 1 Winston Ybañez of the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) said that the body of Liesel Bordadora, 40, was found at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

"She succumbed to various stab wounds on her body which were deep," Ybañez told SunStar Cebu.

The body of Leisel's husband, Edwin, was found at 6 a.m. Thursday, December 7, some 10 meters away from where she was found.

"The area was dark and the trees hid his body from the responding policemen. He also succumbed to deep wounds caused by a long bolo or any big bladed weapon," Ybañez said.

Since Edwin's body was not immediately discovered, neighbors thought that it was Edwin who killed Liesel as the couple had fights prior to the incident.

Ybañez said that residents in the area also heard shouts of help.

The homicide investigator said that informants have already reported to them the names of possible suspects as they conducted deeper investigation on the crime. (Johanna Marie O. Bajenting/SunStar Cebu)
