Bulk water firm secures occupancy permit

THE Bacolod Bulk Water Inc. (BBWI) has secured an occupancy permit for the operation of its facilities in Bangga Bagul, Barangay Granada, Bacolod City.

Engineer Isidro Sun Jr., head of the Office of the Building Official (OBO), said Thursday, December 7, the BBWI obtained the permit on Wednesday after paying P13,590 worth of fees and penalties.

“They can now operate for the delivery of water to the Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa),” he said.

Last week, the OBO served a notice of violation to BBWI for operating its facilities without occupancy permit and was ordered to stop its operation.

The BBWI committed a violation of Section 309 of National Building Code.

It stated that no building or structure shall be used or occupied and no change in the existing use or occupancy classification of a building or structure or portion thereof shall be made until the Building Official has issued a certificate of occupancy.

Sun said they only issued the occupancy permit, which is different from the business permit.

“Since they have a contract with Baciwa, they should also get a business permit from the City Government,” he added.
