A YOUNG woman was stabbed by her former boyfriend inside her house at Villa Barilea, Barangay Zone II in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental on Saturday morning, December 9.
Although the 22-year-old victim sustained eight stab wounds, she was discharged from the hospital on the same day since she had only minor injuries.
Investigation showed that suspect Charles Bawek, 23, entered the house of the victim and waited for the latter to arrive around 5:35 a.m.
Bawek was believed to be under the influence of intoxicating liquor.
He held the victim close to him and stabbed her several times.
Chief Inspector Rocky Desear, city police chief, said the victim sustained six stab wounds in her back and another two injuries in her neck.
Bawek got mad at the woman for breaking up with him, police said.
The suspect escaped, but he later surrendered to the police through the help of a village councilman.
Charges for serious physical injuries in relation to Republic Act 9262 or Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004 will be filed against Bawek, who is detained at the station.
