Bacolod mayor orders release of P5,000 productivity bonus

BACOLOD City Mayor Evelio Leonardia has issued a memorandum for the granting of Productivity Enhancement Incentive (PEI) of P5,000 each to all regular, co-terminus, and casual plantilla employees of the City Government.

The mayor’s order came after the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) issued a directive on December 4 for the release of the PEI not earlier than December 15.

The City Mayor’s Office announced the issuance of Memorandum No. 187 to all department and office heads over the weekend.

“Pursuant to Budget Circular No. 2017-4 dated Dec. 4, 2017, you are hereby directed to process your department’s payroll for PEI of P5,000 for year 2017 not earlier than Dec. 15, 2017,” Leonardia said in the memorandum.

The mayor said PEI will be given in addition to the year-end bonus equivalent to one-month basic pay and cash gift of P5,000 that regular, co-terminus and casual plantilla employees received last November 16.

According to the DBM, about P7.5 billion has been set aside for the national government agencies in the 2017 budget to finance the PEI grant of around 1.5 million workers across the national government.

The agency added that “(t)he PEI of P5,000 shall be given to government employees not earlier than Dec. 15, 2017, provided that they are still in the service as of Nov. 30, 2017 and that they have rendered at least a total of four months of at least satisfactory service as of November 30, 2017.”

The DBM added that “(a)s mandated by EO 201, the PEI is meant to improve the productivity of government workers.”
