DEFENDING champion Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports, Cultural and Educational Association (Nopsscea) opened their campaign in the secondary girls volleyball of the 2017 Palarong Panlalawigan with a two-set win over Area 5 at the Negros Occidental Multi-Purpose Activity Center.
The Bacolod Tay Tung High School-bannered Nopsscea side swept Area 5, a combined force from Himamaylan City and towns of Moises Padilla, La Castellana, Isabela, Hinigaran and Binalbagan, 25-11 and 25-12.
Nopsscea also downed Area 9-Negros Occidental High School, 25-15 and 15-15 for their second victory late afternoon.
Nopsscea is grouped in Bracket B alongside Area 1, composed of the cities of San Carlos and Escalante, and towns of Calatrava and Toboso, Area 10- Association of Negros Occidental Private Schools and School Administrators Inc. (Anopssai), Area 5, and Area 9.
For secondary boys’ football, Area 6, represented by Kabankalan City, blanked Area 5 bannered by La Castellana during the initial match at the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos football field.
In the second game, powerhouse Area 1 led by San Carlos City defeated Bacolod City (Area 7), 3-0 as Area 3 of Victorias, Silay and Talisay, and towns of E.B. Magalona and Murcia likewise ruled over Area 2, represented by cities of Sagay and Cadiz and Manapla town, 3-0. (HGD)
