Study for Davao-Samal bridge to done in 2018

THE feasibility study plan of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for the Davao-Samal bridge is now being finalized and is set to be completed by 2018, said a National Economic Development Authority (Neda) official.

On the sidelines of the Davao Regional Development Plan (DRDP), Neda Davao Regional Director Maria Lourdes Lim said the feasibility is to be presented to the Asian Development Bank (ADB) once finished.

Earlier in 2015, the Katahira and Engineers International (KEI), a Japanese civil engineering firm, had also conducted a pre-feasibility study together with the consultation done by the DPWH with the concerned sectors and local government units.

By the same year as well, Lim said, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (Jica) had completed a feasibility plan which had already been endorsed by the Regional Development Council (RDC).

In earlier published reports, it was stated that a P1.19 billion had been allotted for the said tourism road convergence project between Davao and Samal.

As for his part, RDC chair and Davao del Norte governor Anthony del Rosario, said he hopes for the realization of the project as it will surely spur the business logistics and tourism sector in the region.
