Davao Doctors Hospital launches mobile clinic, 4 other facilities

IN A bid to provide utmost care to its patients, the Davao Doctors Hospital officially launched its mobile clinic and four other new facilities last December 6.

No less than its president and chief executive officer, Raymund CS Del Val and other officers of the hospital graced the event, led by Dr. Noel A. Villanueva, the hospital’s medical director, and Dr. Ronald P. Tangente, its assistant director for medical education.

Fr. George Angga of the St. Jude Thaddeus Parish blessed the facilities.

The mobile clinic and the other four new facilities namely the HMO Hub, the MRI unit, Spine and Scoliosis Center, and the Liver Center are now conveniently located at the ground floor to cut the hassle for the patients to go upstairs.

The mobile clinic will not be parked in a single area but will be moving around the city, especially in the southern area like Dumoy as it is one of the most populous areas in the city. This is done so that those patients who need to go to the hospital won't need to travel far downtown and instead can be catered to at their mobile clinic.

Dr. Villanueva said the objective of having this mobile clinic is to extend the hospital’s services to its people, serve its corporate partners outside the city, and hopefully will also serve the Ciudades Township facility in Buhangin soon from time to time.

On the their new Liver Center, Dr. Villanueva said it has already been put up a while ago but they have added new facilities in it like the liver fibroscan, the only one in Mindanao, where they can diagnose liver pathology and diseases objectively because they can see the liver status of the patient very clearly.

On their Spine Center, however, Dr. Villanueva said “We have been working on this, but this time around we already have its own center that people can actually visit.

This facility is also the first in Mindanao.

Its advantage, aside from its convenient location which is at the ground floor, is it is also alongside the hospital’s rehabilitation facilities.

“Our rehabilitation center is one of the best in Mindanao. Nice area for people to recover,” he added.

Another advantage of putting up its Spine Center at the ground floor is that it’s very near to the MRI unit.

“When talking about MRI, ours is actually way better, because the image is actually clearer and better which is a good advantage to us practitioners to diagnose the problem of the patients. This is very good for the region because our vision is not only limited to Davao City clients alone because we get even as far as Butuan, Cagayan, Jolo,” Villanueva added.

Dr. Ma. Ramona B. Reyes, MD, FPOA, Spine Surgery, for her part, said one of the advantages of their Spine Center is that more specialists who can attend to a patient simultaneously.

Tangente, for his part, said these changes are the result of the dynamism of the hospital’s team as they wanted to make things better. “Although we have issues that we have to improve on, but because of the spirit of dynamism it’s going to be better over time. And we thank you for being part of the changes,” he said.

Del Val said this move is part of the hospital’s five R strategic plan, which are, reconfiguring, rebranding, retooling, reaching out and rising above.

“So the changes that you have seen are part of the retooling and our services are part of the reaching out. And now we’re focusing on patient-centered care and primary care as we move on, we revised now our strategy because we do the change,” he ended. (CEA)
