Tree-mendous Christmas decors

ALMOST all—if not all—establishments have a giant Christmas tree as centerpiece every December. Family and friends always take the opportunity to take a photo of these Christmas decors wherever they are. So check out these trees from all over Cebu and decide where you want to have your photo taken next.

SM City Cebu

This holiday season, Olaf and his friends took us on a “Frozen” adventure. Inspired by Disney’s blockbuster animated film, SM City Cebu’s Christmas tree is adorned with blue, white and silver accents. To officially light the tree, kids participated in a ceremonial snowball fight with Olaf himself. After the tree lighting was the unveiling of the Christmas Village of Hope, which aims to raise funds for children with cancer under Kythe Foundation Inc.

Cebu City Marriott Hotel

Cebu Marriott complements its verdant Christmas tree with a plethora of red ornaments—bows, spheres, leaves, flowers and even our traditional parols! The glinting frills of silver and gold add the right amount of glam to the classic tree.

Jpark Island Resort and Waterpark Cebu

Jpark Island Resort and Waterpark Cebu lit its candyland-themed Christmas tree along with the launching of its Christmas fundraising campaign for the benefit of Lapu-Lapu City Home Care Center, a center for abandoned and orphaned kids in Lapu-Lapu City; and Kythe Foundation Cebu, a 22-year non-government organization specializing in psycho-social and pediatric care for hospitalized children with long-term and serious ailments.

Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino

At the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino, Christmas-tree lighting is an annual tradition, and for this year, the hotel goes for a 30-foot dazzling Christmas tree meticulously decorated with different pieces of green, white and gold Christmas balls complimented by glittering gold decors that bring instant joy and happiness for a shining shimmering holidays.

Mandani Bay

It’s a play on lights, looking at Mandani Bay’s 35-feet Christmas tree. Veering from the typical, it was given a distinct approach. The tree beams poppy white and gold, gives off a minimalist look and inspired by Mandani Bay’s logo. This year, it’s located outside Mandani Bay’s show gallery on F.E Zuellig Ave., which will sure enough turn heads and brighten the streets of Mandaue.

Bluewater Maribago Beach Resort

The tree is made up of about a hundred native parols in different sizes and colors. In line with Bluewater Resorts’ branding which is “very Filipino,” it takes inspiration from Filipino Christmas traditions like that moment when native parols light up the streets and homes of every Filipino; a sure sign that Christmas is here. Combining the ornament with the tree is their way of giving a nod to the traditions that’s also familiar to the foreign guests as well staying at the resort.

Quest Hotel and Conference Center - Cebu

Quest’s Christmas tree was decorated with ornaments from baubles to ribbons in festive colors of red, gold and more. But apart from the tree, it was paired with some unique accents complementing the halls of Quest, as well as a little bit of tune with some bell ringing. Staying true to the concept of presenting something different, Quest gives a contemporary spin to the holidays from the tree down to the accents.

Cebu Parklane International Hotel

Cebu Parklane International Hotel goes green yet again for four consecutive years. With the theme, “I can go green, I can save lives, I can because I can,” the hotel’s Christmas tree is made up of recycled and indigenous materials. Also giving light and hope to children with cancer, the hotel sold recycled soda can Christmas trinkets in partnership with Cancer Warriors Foundation-Cebu Chapter and Rotaract Club of Cebu.

Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort & Spa

Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort & Spa Cebu takes a dreamy journey through starry skies with a whimsical oasis-themed holidays. The seaside resort’s Christmas tree, embellished with blue and gold colors represents just that and adding a playful touch is a miniature hot-air balloon décor that completes the holiday look.

Marco Polo Plaza

Marco Polo Plaza’s Christmas tree is 14 feet tall, beautifully adorned in red and white poinsettias, balls of gold, green and blue in assorted sizes, and lit up together with a big Christmas wreath and garlands bedecking the second floor balcony. The hotel invites its guests to add to the balls for P200 each as donation to the GMA Kapuso Foundation; and for two balls, the guest gets a raffle ticket for a round trip ticket to Hong Kong, courtesy of Cathay Pacific.

Crimson Resort and Spa Mactan

In the past years, Crimson Mactan’s tree bore a native theme, accented with locally sourced ornaments. This year, the “Under the Sea” tree surrounded by brightly lit corals and sea creatures, is a striking complement to the resort experience. Majestically placed in the garden area by the infinity pool, the tree stays true to its theme with a starfish as its topper. Crimson Mactan also pledged to grant wishes this year, like it always does, by ticking off items on its chosen kids’ wish lists. After the ceremony, guests partook of a holiday feast which included roast turkey and roast beef.

Montebello Villa Hotel

The 14-foot tree with red and gold ornaments evokes warmth and timelessness—two qualities that the garden hotel has long been known for. Montebello’s tree lighting ceremony highlighted the importance of family and tradition, and its tree serves as a symbol of welcome and acceptance for its guests whom it considers as family. The food and beverage staff also paraded sparkling wine bottles lit by sparklers, and distributed glasses to guests for a celebratory toast. Christmas carols filled the air while guests enjoyed cocktails.

Waterfront Airport Hotel and Casino

Themed “Holiday Glitters,” WAHC’s event was nothing short of dazzling. The first to be unveiled this year, the glittery tree is right at the center of the hotel lobby which is just as magnificently decorated. During the ceremony, general manager Benhur Caballes enjoined everyone to look back on the last year and all the blessings it has brought. WAHC also shared with guests its project called Feet for Change, an outreach activity which its staff did in Caohagan Island where they hosted a party for school kids and distributed slippers and school supplies.

Sheraton Cebu Mactan

An evening of enchantment await the guests at The Residences at the Sheraton Cebu Mactan’s with its rustic, forest, gold, cream Christmas tree adorned with real eucalyptus creating a majestic and memorable tree. The company took inspiration from natural elements from its surroundings and refined it to embody the elegance of The Residences, incorporated with a festive flair that’s truly fitting for the holidays.
