Farmer who tried to kill self, dies in hospital

A FARMER who attempted to kill himself in Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, December 12, after hacking his wife died in the hospital.

Senior Inspector Alan Reloj, town police chief, confirmed the death of 53-year-old Rogelio Buenafe hours after he hacked his wife.

Buenafe who was believed to be suffering from nervous breakdown attempted to kill himself after hacking his wife inside their house at Barangay Crossing Magallon.

Buenafe, armed with two cane cutters, was pacified by his cousin and his wife's brother, but the suspect hit both of them with stones and a bladed weapon. Both sustained minor injuries.

The police and Buenafe's family negotiated with him, but failed to calm him down. The suspect then stabbed himself with a 19-inch bolo.

Reloj said Buenafe's wife was already discharged from a hospital.
