Peace and Order Council approves P50-M fund for 2018

THE Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) of Negros Occidental approved Thursday, December 14, its P50-million fund for 2018.

Provincial Planning and Development officer Ma. Lina Sanogal said the funding will only need the concurrence of the Provincial Board next year.

The budget approved includes the intelligence and confidential fund.

Col. Eliezer Losanes, commanding officer of the Army's 303rd Infantry Brigade, said the budget was already approved by Governor Alfredo Maranon.

"It's an ideal budget," he said.

The peace and order budget of the province also includes priority projects identified by the governor.

Losanes said he has not yet received guidelines for the ceasefire this holiday season.

"So far the pronouncement of the President is that there will be no suspension of military operations and there is no guidelines yet as to the declaration of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army as terrorists.

"We are just waiting for the guidelines," he said.

Even the police are also trying to follow up the guidelines after the President made the declaration.

"We need clear guidelines so that we will know what to do on the ground," he added.
