Nocppo enforces 1-strike policy on stray bullet cases

SENIOR Superintendent Rodolfo Castil Jr., provincial director of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo), has warned all police chiefs in the province to resolve incidents involving stray bullet during the holiday season.

Castil, in a press statement Thursday, said Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag, regional director of Police Regional Office (PRO)-Western Visayas, reminded them during their command conference in Iloilo City last Wednesday to ensure that no such incident will happen during the Yuletide season.

He said that police chiefs who failed to resolve this kind of incidents in their areas of responsibility will be meted with corresponding penalty based on the one-strike policy.

The police director told all policemen to avoid using their firearms indiscriminately.

"They will be held liable for their offense," Castil said.

He also appealed to the firearm owners to be responsible to avoid untoward incidents.

On Nocppo’s holiday security plan, Castil assured the public they are prepared and ready for the deployment of personnel.

Police personnel will be assigned in various areas of convergence like transportation hub, shopping malls, supermarkets, public markets and places where influx of people is expected.

Castil encouraged the public to cooperate and participate in the activities, plans and programs of the police for a peaceful and merrier holiday season.

The Bacolod City Police Office assured the public of safe and peaceful conduct of Christmas and New Year’s.

Police assistance desks will be placed in churches, terminals, shopping malls, ports, and markets to ensure police presence starting tomorrow.
