Phoenix fuels Mindanao art

ON THE petroleum company’s 15th year in the business, Phoenix adds another feather in its cap by hosting a worthwhile project that puts Mindanao art and artists on higher ground.

“We came up with this project because Phoenix Petroleum and our parent company, UDENNA, is proudly Davao born. This is the company’s 15th founding anniversary and 10th listing anniversary at the Philippine stock exchange so we wanted to showcase our Mindanao roots. This art exhibit is a way to mark those milestones with the people from Davao while taking pride of our Mindanaoan roots and the colorful culture we have to offer,” said Debbie Uy-Rodolfo, Assistant Vice-President for Corporate Communications and Costumer Service.

“Beginnings and Beyond” is the first art exhibition mounted by Phoenix Petroleum and the company tapped artist Vic Secuya as curator.

Twelve artists, including Vic Secuya, presented two artworks each painted on the uniform-sized canvas of four feet square. The twenty-four carefully selected and curated artworks represent Mindanao heritage— its people, sights, flora, fauna and various depiction of fueling life.

With Secuya in this exhibit are Rey Bollozos, Adolfo Buenaventura, Anoy Catague, Jun Cayas, Amanda Echevarria, Dadai Joaquin, Alynnah Macla, Gilbert Miraflor, Lito Pepito, Bong Perez, Misha Pueblas.

The “Beginnings and Beyond” exhibition will until December 16 at the Upper Ground Floor of SM Lanang Premier.

“Phoenix Petroleum’s art exhibition by will be an annual event,” added Rodolfo.

That’s good news for Mindanao art, the artists and the art lovers.

Congratulations Phoenix and the twelve artists!
