Nopsscea bags elementary, high school football crowns

THE Sonata Residence-backed Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports, Cultural and Educational Association (Nopsscea) football teams captured the titles of the 2017 Palarong Panlalawigan elementary and secondary boys divisions Thursday at the STI West Negros University and University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos pitches, respectively.

The Noriel Revilla-mentored Nopsscea side beat Area 1 represented by San Carlos City, 4-0 courtesy of Lance Lawrence Locsin and King James Montano with two goals each.

En route the finals, Nopsscea ruled over Area 5 (Himamaylan City), 7-0; Area 2 (Cadiz City), 6-1; and Area 1, 3-0 during the eliminations while blanked Bacolod City, 2-0 in the semi-finals.

Suited up for Miguel Rivero-managed team are Trinity Christian Schools’ Asher Vicera, Robert Joshua Indiape, Zeth Penkian, Marjhun Badoy, Ronan Christian Jed Tan, Bryan Tan, Charles Taran, Wilton Balili, Alfred Celeste, and Cydgewyck Archie Tecson; St. John’s Institute’s Joshua Anthony Yee and Timothy Sarrosa, Lance Catalan and Matthew Jochico from University of St. La Salle and Mark Dignadice of UNO-R.

Joining Revilla are assistant coaches Florence Panongaling, Paul Tenebroso and Ian Combate.

Combate’s secondary boys survived Area 4 (Bago City), 1-0 to bring home the title.
