All set for football league finals

IT'S all systems go for the staging of the inaugural championship match of the Philippines Football League (PFL) between the home team Ceres Negros FC and the visiting Global Cebu FC on Saturday, 6 p.m.at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City.

After a tough regular season, with both sides even at one win and one loss records, Ceres FC assistant coach Ian Treyes Friday said they will stay focused on this match and disregard their previous match results.

Ceres FC skipper Martin Steuble said that despite playing with a number of injured starters on the bench, they will give their best performance at the presence of a great home crowd.

Among those who will sit out because of injuries are Steuble, Manny Ott, and Fernando Rodriguez.

The Busmen will also play without head coach Risto Vidakovic who is serving his suspension by the PFL for infractions committed in October. The decision was made later part of November and the suspension took effect in the semifinal round.

As both teams already qualified in the AFC Cup next year, Global’s captain Misagh Bahadoran said their motivation in this final match is that the champion gets the opportunity to play in the champion’s league.

With Tropical Storm Urduja affecting the weather in the province, both teams said that they are ready to play. They added that they don’t’ have any adjustments, but will play with the weather.

Treyes asked the Negrense fans to join them in this quest as they take pride to represent the province and Bacolod in this tournament.
