Anti-mining activist found dead

A MEMBER of Compostela Farmers Association (CFA) who was reported missing since December 15, 2017 was found dead at a funeral parlor.

In the information furnished by the Karapatan-Southern Mindanao Region, the victim was identified as Jeanni Rose Porras, 39, CFA member.

The victim's son narrated that he last saw his mother last December 14 talking with someone. He said he got worried when his mother did not return home after that and he could not contact her through her cellphone.

The following day, December 15, he reported his mother missing at the police station and he also asked for assistance from other CFA members to find his mother. They located Porras' body at a funeral parlor, Sunday morning.

Karapatan-SMR still does not know the cause of death.

Porras was an anti-mining activist who has led various mass actions there.

As of Monday, December 18, Compostela Valley police are still investigating the incident.
