Bacolod City gov’t employees to get P25,000 bonus

ABOUT 1,300 employees of the City of Bacolod will receive a Collective Negotiation Agreement (CNA) bonus of P25,000 each.

The City Council approved the P32.5-million appropriation during its special session Monday, December 19.

Councilor Caesar Distrito, chairperson of committee on finance, said they approved the said amount as request for reversion by Mayor Evelio Leonardia for the purpose of giving P25,000 to each regular, plantilla casual, co-terminus such as executive assistants, technical assistants, Bacolod City College full time and contractual teachers, and elected city officials.

“For all of our employees to enjoy and experience a merrier Christmas by receiving P30,000, including Productivity Enhancement Incentive (PEI) of P5,000, we put a collatilla that the bonus will not be subjected to any deduction from any entity and should be released directly by all employees in full,” he said.

The P32.5-million was taken from several Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses accounts.

The CNA bonus is given based on the agreement between the City Government and the Bacolod City Government Employees Union (BCGEU).

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran said the employees can now process their documents for the release of their bonuses.

He said the City Government has big savings in the 2017 budget so they can give P25,000 in CNA for the employees.

The vice mayor added that the CNA incentive is a bonus for the employees for their excellent performance.

In November, the City Government also released the 14th month pay and the P5,000 cash gift of its regular employees and plantilla casuals.

In 2016, the city employees only received P3,500 each of CNA incentive and P5,000 of PEI.

Geory Jay Castillano, vice president of BCGEU, said they are thankful to the city officials for giving them a big bonus.

He said they were informed only yesterday that they will receive the said amount.

“It is a surprise because last year we only received P3,500 in CNA. We are thankful to Mayor Leonardia, Vice Mayor Familiaran and the members of the City Council,” he added.
