Urduja affects EDC's Leyte power plants

THE Energy Development Corp. has issued an advisory stating that operations of its Leyte Geothermal Power Plants have been affected by landslides and flooding brought by Typhoon Urduja.

As of Dec. 18, the Leyte Power Plants were producing an aggregate of 246 MW, compared to 462 MW before the typhoon hit.

An initial assessment showed that most of the damage was not to the power plants but to pipelines and the marshalling station.

“We are working to restore the facilities at the soonest time possible, with priority consideration on safety.

Moreover, we are extending assistance to our host communities.

We shall notify the Exchange of relevant developments as results of more detailed assessments become available,” the company said in a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange. (PSE)
