DC-Peace consultation in Paquibato on Dec. 20

THE Davao City Advisory Committee for Peace and Development (DC-Peace) is set to conduct a community consultation in Paquibato District on Wednesday, December 20.

Lawyer Elisa Lapiña, DC-Peace spokesperson, said that this is the initial move of the council after Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio terminated the localized peace talks following President Rodrigo Duterte’s declaration of the New People’s Army (NPA) as terrorists.

“The participants are identified per barangay, every barangay there will be five people,” Lapiña added.

She added that all DC-Peace members will go to the area.

The DC-Peace was tasked by Mayor Duterte-Carpio to talk with communities in order to know their issues and concerns.

Duterte-Carpio said she wants DC-Peace to report identified concerns gathered during community consultation so that the city will able to address the concerns.

Lapiña, in a previous interview, said as advisory committee they will go to the area and gather barangay officials and representatives and from there they will identify how to start with the peace work.
