Garbage hauler to manage, maintain of landfill

THE Bacolod City Council approved the three-month extension of contract of services of garbage hauler IPM-Construction and Development Corporation (IPM-CDC) for the management and maintenance of sanitary landfill facility in Barangay Felisa.

The extension of contract from January to March 2018 was requested by Mayor Evelio Leonardia and was approved during the regular session on Wednesday.

Those who approved the mayor’s request were Councilors Caesar Distrito, Dindo Ramos, Cindy Rojas, Bartolome Orola, Noli Villarosa, Renecito Novero and Elmer Sy while Councilor Claudio Puentevella objected the measure.

Councilor Ann Marie Palermo was absent while Councilor Ricardo Tan was out of the session hall during the deliberation.

The seven-month contract of IPM-CDC will end on December 31 and the new contract will start on January 1, 2018 for the maintenance and operation of the landfill at P7.4 million per month.

Last week, the City Council also approved the three-month extension of contract of services of IPM-CDC for collection, hauling and disposal of garbage and solid waste management.

The one year and four-month contract of IPM-CDC will also end on December 31 and its new contract will start on January 1 for the garbage hauling and collection services at P14.858 million per month.

Leonardia said the extension of IPM-CDC’s contract is a necessity because its original contract will expire by the year’s end.

“If we follow the rules and regulations, we have a bidding process and then its contract will expire on December 31, so what will we do?,” he said.

Leonardia recalled that in terms of contract extension, the previous administration also approved the contract extension because the bidding will still run for two months.

The mayor said that if they will not extend the contract, the City Government will not have garbage trucks to collect the trash of the 61 cillages.
