CHRISTMAS is just around the corner and what better way of celebrating this significant occasion than by sharing our blessings to others.
Seven BA Communication students of the University of the Cordilleras enrolled in the course Development Communication found time to have an early celebration for the special event by giving gifts to school children and conducting a seminar empowering the community of Pappa, Sablan on the importance of sanitation through the help of Department of Health Cordillera.
Dubbed “Care and share” the program started through a seminar with Jannel Polon who talked on basic sanitation such as the proper way of washing hands to eliminate bacteria that will cause diseases.
The problem on sanitation is one of the concerns of this barangay in the municipality, a fifth class municipality which has at least 594 population and 130 households. 11 households still do not have the proper comfort room.
The second part of the program was a special treat for the school children who felt the true spirit of Christmas through the Christmas party especially organized for them. The exciting games and song and dance contest could be a very memorable experience for them.
A sanitary kit and gifts were also given to the kids including the adults who also enjoyed the food funded by the students and cooked and prepared by the community headed by Pappa Multigrade Head Teacher Gina Panagan.
For Aileen Fernandez, Princess Flores, Louie Mapa, Christian Jastine Mendoza, Jethro Paraiso, Monique Tarectecan, and Jesher Tolentino this encounter with the community is one grateful experience that they will always cherish in life.
Make a meaningful memory this yuletide season by involving in activities that will touch the lives of others. As the author Gordon Hinckley said, "As we give presents at Christmas, we need to recognize that sharing our time and ourselves is such an important part of giving."
Merry Merry Christmas to all of you!
