Man shot dead by ‘riding-in-tandem’

A MAN died after he was shot by two unidentified men on a motorcycle at Goldenfield Commercial Complex in Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City Tuesday night.

Killed was Jeffrey Abendan, 41, of Purok Sunflower, Barangay Taculing.

Chief Inspector Ruel Culanag, head of Police Station 8, said Abendan was shot at close range when he was about to ride a taxi at 11:20 p.m. with an unidentified woman after they bought pizza.

Abendan succumbed to head injuries while his female companion was unharmed.

Culanag said the assailants parked their motorcycle from afar and followed Abendan and the woman, based on the statement of a 19-year-old female witness.

Both suspects escaped despite being chased by two policemen deployed in the area.

Police recovered from the scene fired bullets of .45 caliber pistol.

Culanag said they have already identified persons of interest, but refused to divulge their identities as of press time.

Police eyed love triangle as the motive.

Culanag said they are checking if they can get a copy of the footage from a closed circuit television camera.
