A business to empower women

CEBUANA entrepreneur Prisca Niña Mabatid isn’t done helping fellow Cebuanos.

Besides helping them secure immigrant visas to Canada and New Zealand through Pinoy Care Visa Center Inc., Mabatid is up for a new venture, this time helping women become entrepreneurs.

She recently ventured into beauty and skin care, Prisca Beauty and Cosmetics, with the goal of unleashing the entrepreneurial spirit of every woman and empowering them.

“Prisca was born out of my love for skin care and cosmetics. It’s one of my passions that when I travel abroad, shopping for beauty care and cosmetics has became my stress reliever,” said Mabatid, CEO of Pinoy Care.

Shopping for beauty and skin care products, she said, has made her more familiar with the high-quality ingredients used by high-end beauty and skin care products.

Her curiosity to learn more about them has led her to key suppliers of beauty care and cosmetics ingredients. Attending conventions has also widened Mabatid’s product knowledge and market opportunities, which eventually, inspired her to make her own.

“I learned that the ingredients used by these high-end products aren’t really that expensive. So, how come not everyone has access to these?” said Mabatid. “I realized that it is just branding and market positioning that have made these signature brands pricey.”

With the goal to make these high-quality beauty products accessible to every woman, Mabatid said she tapped chemists to help formulate her own. Hence, the birth of Prisca, a brand that was two years in the making.

Prisca’s product lines include skin care products for anti-ageing and whitening as well as cosmetics, such as lipsticks.

Mabatid intends to market Prisca through direct selling to give women, especially stay-at-home mothers, an opportunity to earn something on the side from the comforts of their home.

She said this is also an opportunity for those who want to try their luck in business.

“Direct selling is one of the creative tools to help women become independent business owners. I want to share my entrepreneurial wit and skill to other women. I want them to become successful, too,” said Mabatid.

“I want them to also be beautiful regardless of their status, size and background in life,” she added.

Mabatid guarantees that Prisca products are made from high-quality ingredients and do not have harmful ingredients like mercury, steroids, triclosan, and hydroquinone, among others. “Now that I have my own, I no longer use other brands,” she said.
