Christmas generally peaceful in Pampanga

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The celebration of Christmas day in Pampanga was generally peaceful, said Pampanga Police Provincial Office (PPPO) Director Senior Superintendent Joel Consulta.

Consulta said that no crimes and any untoward incidents were reported from December 24 midnight to the whole day of December 25.

No reports of indiscriminate firing among police personnel and private citizens, and firecracker-related incidents were also recorded during the said time frame.

“Katulad ng last year, generally peaceful naman ang celebration ng Pasko ng mga Kapampangan. Noong umaga marami lang mga tao sa daan according sa reports, pero humupa din pagkahapon at gabi,” he said.

Consulta noted that he deployed all police personnel in local stations, as well as those from PPPO for quick response and stronger police visibility particularly in transportation terminals and malls where people flocked on December 24 and December 26.

With the successful maintenance of peace and order during Christmas day, Consulta said that the PPPO is now gearing for a likewise peaceful and orderly celebration of New Year, especially that it will fall on a weekend.

“Same deployment, pero more vigilant and alert dahil may involved na paputok on this celebration. Although bawal na ang malalakas na paputok, ‘yun din ang babantayan namin at ‘yung indiscriminate firing,” he said.
