Carmen Copper bags 2017 PMIEA titanium achievement award

CARMEN Copper Corp. was recently honored with the 2017 Presidential Mineral Industry and Environmental Award (PMIEA) titanium achievement award for the surface mining operation category.

The award recognizes the firm’s satisfactory environmental safety and health management and community development in its mining operations.

The award was presented by the Presidential Mineral Industry Environmental Award selection committee on Nov. 24, 2017 during the 64th annual national mine safety and environment conference at the CAP-Camp John Hay Trade and Cultural Center, Camp John Hay, Baguio City.

“This recognition is a reaffirmation of our company’s responsible mineral resource utilization, beyond compliance initiatives in our environmental protection efforts, sustainable operations and growth of our people, and genuine social development in our host and neighboring communities in Toledo City,” said Carmen Copper president and chief executive office Enrico Nera.

Other awardees include SR Metals Inc. (2017 PMIEA), Agata Mining Ventures Inc., Filminera Resources Corp., Hinatuan Mining Corp.–Taganaan, OceanaGold (Philippines) Inc., Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corp., and Taganito Mining Corp. (platinum) and Cagdianao Mining Corp. (titanium).
