Ceres FC is 2017 Fair Play awardee

ANOTHER first for Philippine football.

Ceres Negros FC received the AFC Fair Play Award of the 2017 AFC Cup.

This was announced through a letter from Lorenzo Fofi, AFC competition manager for Club Division Department, to Ceres FC marketing manager Ace Patrick Bright.

The recognition was rewarded to the Filipino club after collecting the most fair play points during the AFC Cup tournament – an addition to the club’s achievement when they won the Asean Zone champion title and the inaugural Philippines Football League (PFL) crown.

Last year, India’s Bengaluru FC was the AFC Fair Play awardee.

Fédération Internationale de Football Association (Fifa) president Gianni Infantino congratulated Ceres Negros FC after winning the PFL title.

In his letter to Philippine Football Federation president and Fifa council member Mariano Araneta, Infantino said the title is the result of everyone’s determination – the players, the coach, the administration, the entire technical and medical staff as well as the fans.

“On behalf of the entire football community, I would like to thank Ceres Negros FC and your association for helping spread the positive message of football,” he added. (HGD)
