Bridal splendor

THERE’S just something about the Christmas season that leaves one wistful and believing in the magic it brings. Now throw in a wedding around the holidays—oh, what a vision!

Classic creations mingled with merry elements, fashion designer Hanz Coquilla presents his bridal collection brimming utter sophistication with a creamy finish, inspired by all things Christmas-y.

“This collection is composed of clothes from different collections. We tried to make a storyline that will unify each and every dress,” he shared.

It was set in the halls of Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino where the place was bedecked in holiday-inspired elements, adding that touch of magic to the whole concoction.

“I just finished my Macau fashion show that time and I thought of doing a shoot for some of the dresses especially the wedding gowns,” said Hanz who took inspiration from the angels and cherubs, little drummer boys and the winter season. “In this shoot you can see all these elements not in the dresses but in the background which gives a dreamy and Christmas-y feel. This is a collaboration with Russian photographer and friend, Artem Levy.”

“The whole vision is to make every person look at the photos and make them imagine how it feels like to have a full Christmas theme for their wedding; to show to them that wedding themes aren’t only limited to flowers and drapes; that Santa Claus, angels and cherubs, drummer boys and The Nutcracker Prince and Christmas trees can make a beautiful background too,” he continued.

With the kind of joy the holidays brings, one can get easily inspired.

“The holidays are such an inspiration especially the colors, the mood, the music—even the people running around getting themselves so busy can be a good inspiration,” he said.

With a collection that speaks of classic elegance. Coquilla, who has always admired brave women, envisions them to feel such when they don his creations.

“I want them to feel empowered and confident. I want them to shine even without a single bead on. After all dresses are made for women, not the other way around,” he added.
