8 Northern Mindanao cops tested positive for drug use

THE Police Regional Office (PRO)-Northern Mindanao has reported that some eight policemen in the region have been tested positive for illegal drug use for the year 2017.

PRO-Northern Mindanao spokesperson Superintendent Lemuel Gonda said these cops were found to have been using the prohibited drugs based on the results of the unannounced drug tests this year.

The PRO data showed that from the eight, three policemen from Bukidnon were dismissed and two are facing summary hearing at the Provincial Internal Affairs Service (PIAS) and Regional Internal Affairs Service (RIAS) while administrative charges is on process against another policeman.

In Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo), one has been booted out and another is undergoing summary hearing before the RIAS.

“They were all male who were tested positive sa drug test for this year,” Gonda said.

This week alone, more than a hundred policemen and civilian employees of the regional headquarters and about 85 personnel from Cocpo have undergone the surprise drug test.

Gonda reiterates the warning of PRO-Northern Mindanao regional director Chief Superintendent Timoteo Pacleb against policemen who are engaging in illegal drug activities.

“It is a stern warning to police officers involved in illegal drug activities to stop or they will be arrested or they will be shot to death if they resist arrest,” Pacleb earlier said.
