Storm warning signal lifted in Cebu, Bohol

THE Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has lifted Tropical Storm Warning Signal Number 1 in Cebu, Siquijor and Bohol.

Tropical Depression Agaton is already traversing Sulu sea and heading towards Palawan, the state weather bureau said in its 11 a.m. advisory, Tuesday, January 2.

TCWS #1 is now hoisted over Palawan including Cuyo Island Guimaras, Negros Oriental, Negros Occidental, Southern Antique, and Southern Iloilo.

The center of Agaton is estimated at 170 kilometer east of Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental. It is still packing winds of up to 55 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 90 kph.

While Bicol region, Eastern Visayas, Panay Island, Romblon and Mindoro provinces will also experience scattered to widespread, and moderate to heavy rains.

The state weather bureau has also warned against sea travel in these areas: seaboards of Northern Luzon and Southern Luzon, eastern seaboard of Central Luzon, eastern and western seaboards of Visayas, and eastern seaboard of Mindanao due to the Northeast Monsoon and TD Agaton.

Agaton is expected to move West at 28 kph with the following forecast positions:

u2022 24 Hour(Tomorrow morning): 275 km West Northwest of Puerto Princesa City or 265 km East of Pagasa Island, Palawan

u2022 48 Hour (Thursday morning): 540 km Northwest of Pagasa Island, Palawan. (SunStar Philippines)
