Benguet, Mt. Province welcomes new police directors

A FORMER intelligence group operation officer of Quezon City and Navotas police chief were named as the new police directors of Benguet and Mt. Province, respectively.

Police Senior Superintendent Lyndon Mencio and Senior Superintendent Allen Ocden took their oath as the newly designated head police offices of Benguet and Mt. Province, respectively, during the turn over ceremony held last December 28.

Police Regional Office (PRO)-Cordillera director Chief Superintendent Elmo Francis Sarona challenged both incoming police directors as they are coming in at a time when both provinces posted a significant decrease in the crime volume.

"You are coming at a time that you have big shoes to fill in so to speak because Benguet and Mt. Province is turned over to you at a very ideal their administration manifest. You have to be at par, sustain or even can surpass the performance of your predecessor," said Sarona.

"I hope that both of you will continue the legacy of focusing on the priorities of present administration to eliminate drugs, corruption, and curving down criminality and to the men and women of Benguet and Mt. Province police provincial offices do extend your support to the Police director just like how you supported your predecessors," Sarona added.

Outgoing police directors Florante Camuyot (Benguet Provincial Police Office) and Tellio Ngis-O (Mt. Province Police Office) both addressed the men and women to extend their assistance and support to incoming police directors. They have also thanked the respective police offices for their support during their administration.

After 17 years of being assigned outside Cordillera, Mencio from Buguias, Benguet returns to the Cordillera.

"It is my privilege to be back again here in the Cordillera. I will not promise anything but work with dedication and commitment in order to be at par with the accomplishment of my predecessor," said Mencio. “We will be working for a drug free Benguet so it could be develop and we will be working in together with all stakeholders not all the whole PNP approach, all government approach but whole people approach starting from grassroots and to all stakeholders since I believe that peace and order is everybody's business.".

Meanwhile, Ocden of Bontoc, Mt. Province said he will continue the plans and programs of the outgoing provincial director.

"Today is the realization of my dreams. My dream to serve my own beloved province Montañosa, I've dreamt of this before, I thank our regional director, command group for giving me this opportunity to serve my place. Rest assured that I will never fail you," added Ocden.
