Ancillary Services Unit to get new OIC

THE Davao City Ancillary Services Unit (Asu) will have a new officer-in-charge (OIC) this year after former Asu chief Rhodelio Poliquit resigned to accept the appointment by President Rodrigo Duterte to be an assistant regional director of a national agency.

Davao City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio in an interview with Sun.Star Davao said Poliquit has already tendered his resignation.

“Nagresign siya, effective siya until December 31, since he was appointed at the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Cagayan de Oro City as an assistant regional director,” Duterte-Carpio said.

She added that they are now shortlisting who will replace Poliquit.

Poliquit had worked as head of the Transportation Management Office (CTMO), now the City Transportation and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO), for three years under then mayor now President Rodrigo Duterte.

He served at TMC from July 12, 2014 up to February 2017. After this, he was re-assigned to ASU up to December 31.

“Nagsubmit ko ug resignation… and positive ang response ni mayor. Pormal jud ko na nananghid sa iyaha kay unang-una dili ko maabot ani kung dili tungod sa Duterte family, dili tungod sa iyang amahan. Nagapasalamat ko sa tanan chances ug opportunities na nahatag sa city sa akoa. Lalo najud tong pagpa-schooling nila sa akoa sa University of the Philippines (I submitted my resignation… and the city mayor gave me a positive response. I formally asked permission since first and foremost, I cannot achieve this without the help of the Duterte family, and also if not for her father. I am thankful for all the opportunities that the city has given me, especially in supporting me in the courses I took at UP),” he said.

He said among these courses are Traffic Administration Course, Traffic Impact Assessment Evaluator’s Course, and Advance Traffic Administration Course which he all took within a week financed by the city.

He said he promises to bring the best practices of Davao City to his next workplace.

“Ipakita nako didto nga Taga-Davao jud ko, dili nako pakaulawan ang Davao City kung naa ko didto. Although new milestone para sa akoa kay ngano layo ko wala ko sa akong pamilya, wala koy paryente, wala ko’y amigo, wala ko’y balay at the same time honor pud nako kay medyo taas ang akong rank (I will show them that I am from Davao City and I will not embarrass the name of Davao when I will be there. Despite being away from my family, having no house, and don’t know anyone there, it is still an honor for me because I have been given a higher rank),” he said.

He said he is happy that he will leave the city hall gracefully with a clean slate.

President Rodrigo Duterte appointed him as Director I or assistant Regional Director for LTO in Cagayan de Oro City last October 27. Department of Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade issued a certification that Poliquit has assumed the duties and responsibilities of the said position effective November 8, 2017.

Poliquit said he will assume his post on January 8, 2017.
