Masbad: Happy New Year

HAPPY New Year folks! 2017 was such an eventful year for technology. So many gadgets released. So many breakthroughs in design. So many innovations in products. Here’s to bigger hopes and bigger pushes towards better and more humane technology this coming 2018!

Do you have any new year technology resolutions? I hope you do! If you don’t, I have a few listed below that you can take for yourself.

Use better passwords for my online accounts. And by better, we mean none of those “1234” or “password” passwords; or even those passwords that contain your name and your birthday. Better yet, use a passphrase. A passphrase is basically a phrase that you can easily remember. Say, like, “Lechonsisigisfortheweak”.

Use two-factor authentication when available. Google has it. Facebook has it. Instagram has it. Twitter has it. And you don’t use it? You better! Aside from a harder password/passphrase for hackers to guess, there’s that extra layer of security.

Use VPN or a TOR browser when navigating dubious websites and for keeping your info private and away from prying eyes. If you don’t have a VPN subscription, get Opera as your brower. It has built-in VPN that you can use for free without any data caps.

I thought of putting together a list of the best things that happened in tech this year but I have a big hunch that all the major tech news websites will have something like that.

Anyway, Happy New Year again and may the coming year bring you blessings and opportunities for growth and learning! Cheers!
