‘Agaton’ leaves 6 Malabuyoc villages on water rationing

AT LEAST six villages in Malabuyoc, Cebu have started water rationing since Tuesday evening after Tropical Depression “Agaton” damaged their water source.

Malabuyoc Mayor Little Creus confirmed to Sunstar Cebu that five coastal villages namely Poblacions 1 and 2; Sto. Niño, Looc, Armiña and a portion of Montañeza have no water since Tuesday night, January 2.

Creus said floods brought by Agaton destroyed pipes connecting to two water reservoirs in the town.

The mayor said they're in the process of repairing the pipes and reconnecting them back to the water reservoirs.

He expects the water to be restored by Thursday, January 4.

At present, the town has deployed its fire trucks to supply ample water to affected residents.

Firefighters from Ginatilan, Cebu have also provided assistance to their neighbor town, Malabuyoc, by providing water to its affected residents. (JKV/SunStar Cebu)
