113 displaced workers in Sto. Tomas get grants

STO. TOMAS -- The Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) recently distributed some P500,000 to this municipality under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay Para sa Displaced Workers (Tupad) program.

Dole-Pampanga Provincial Director Arlene Tolentino led the distribution of salaries of some 113 indigent and displaced workers from this town who recently rendered 10 days of services in their respective communities.

Tolentino said that each Tupad beneficiary received P3,800 as salary for different community services tasked them such as sweeping the streets, pulling weeds and other greening activities.

During the distribution, Tolentino urged workers to use their salaries in providing for the needs of their respective families.

She also thanked the beneficiaries for sharing their time and effort to participate in Dole’s Tupad program which aims to reach out and extend aid to needy citizens.

Meanwhile, Tolentino cited the strong cooperation and coordination of the local government here which resulted to numerous Dole programs downloaded to its residents, especially the indigent ones.

She expressed her hope that the agency and local government’s partnership will continue not only this 2018 but in many more years so as to assist more needy and indigent residents in the town.
