Ploteña takes over as city fire marshal

CHIEF Inspector Publio Ploteña, newly-designated fire marshal of Bacolod, said on Wednesday that he will prioritize the inspection of business process outsourcing companies and informal settlers’ compliance to fire safety standards.

Ploteña assumed as head of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Bacolod effective January 1, 2018, replacing Superintendent Rodolfo Denaga, who held the position as concurrent fire marshal of Negros Occidental.

He was previously assigned as acting fire marshal in July 2015, but was transferred to the regional office as chief operation officer during the activation of BFP-Negros Island Region (NIR). He was moved to BFP-Western Visayas when the NIR headquarters was deactivated in October 2017 before his recent designation in Bacolod.

Ploteña said he will focus on strict the implementation of fire safety standards to avoid untoward incidents.

He paid a courtesy call to Mayor Evelio Leonardia at the Bacolod City Government Center yesterday.

Ploteña also committed to provide convenience to those who process their business permits at One-Stop-Shop at the Government Center.
