Trinidad: Prize-filled 14th IFSC

CHIARA, Aa, and I had a great time at the 14th International Feng Shui Convention held last November 18 and 19, 2017 at Marco Polo Hotel in Ortigas, Manila.

On the gala night, Feng Shui's internationally recognized heavyweights-- our mentor Grandmaster Raymond Lo, together with GM Vincent Koh, GM Tan Khoon Yong, GM Stephen Skinner, and INTFSA President Darren Ng, let down their more serious demeanours to lead a night of dancing.

It was fun to meet and mingle with Feng Shui masters outside a learning environment and meet enthusiasts and practitioners from different parts of the world.

Before the gala night was over, Chiara won 2 of about 8 (or was it 10) raffle prizes.

Earlier during the lectures, Chiara’s correct answer won her a book from Master Cristina Groza of Romania, who talked about using Bazi and Feng Shui to improve relationships. Did you know that infidelity is an energy that can be brought in because of the Flying Stars?

At the same time in the other room, Aa listened to Master Petra Coll Esposito of Germany, who talked about Chinese Astrology and Feng Shui. His correct answers also won him 2 chocolates and an impressive Lou Pan.

He had to give 4 correct answers about Feng Shui elements to get this enviable prize.

I also brought home a prize, a kaffir lime set from Master Janene Laird of Australia, who talked about Feng Shui pointers for the coming year, the year of the Dog. Aa’s correct answer won this, but he gave it to me.

There were many very informative talks as well. Our mentor, GM Lo, spoke on modern Qi Men Dun Jia, which is one of the most respected ancient divination arts. He touched on infidelity and war strategies so you come out the winner.

GM Yong and Master Leung who are based in Singapore spoke on exterior and interior Feng Shui, as well as auspicious directions for period 8 and 9. We are currently in period 8. Period 9 starts in 2024.

GM Koh explained the almanac or the "Tong Shu," which can be translated as the "book of everything." He discussed, among others, the importance of correct timing in major endeavours, what to consider, how to choose dates.

GM Dr. Stephen Skinner talked about integrating the different schools of Feng Shui and where particular methods can be applied.

Master Jacek Kryg of Poland spoke on the role of Yijing or I Ching in Xuan Kong Da Gua, which is one of the most advanced Feng Shui methods.

Master Marites Allen of the Philippines spoke on Feng Shui Fashion.

Master Jen Stone, based in the US, who is also mentored by GM Lo, spoke about classical Feng Shui and Feng Shui fallacies. She mentioned how some present so-called ‘masters’ just attend a 2 Month course and call themselves such, but they are not accredited or recognised by the International Feng Shui Association.

On day 2, there were many speakers as well, and many other subjects but it was not possible to attend them all because there were 2 lectures going on at the same time.

Overall it was a great time of learning and fun at the 14th IFSC. Looking forward to next year in Okayama, Japan.
