Mövenpick resort introduces King Cake Festival at The Sails

CHRISTMAS celebrations are over, but the culinary feast continues as Mövenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu brings a sweet French tradition in January—the King Cake Festival.

Dubbed “Gallete de Rois” or the King Cake, this original French tradition celebrates the arrival of the Three Wise Men. The French have been observing this celebration since the 14th century and the cake is traditionally served on the 12th day of Christmas, Jan. 6, to celebrate the Epiphany.

Mövenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu makes it more fun for guests as the hotel brings the festivity to The Sails restaurant. The King Cake will be served with a small charm inside—a “feve,” or as it means in French, “hidden inside the cake.” Do you ever wonder how it feels like to be king? If you get the slice of cake where the feve was hidden, you will be the Crowned King of the Day!

This festive treat is offered only from Jan. 6 to 16, so make sure you don’t miss out on this limited culinary special. (PR)
