NINE people were hurt after a helicopter of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) crash-landed in Malapatan town in Sarangani Saturday morning.
Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom) public information officer Captain Alberto Caber, in a text message, said the PAF's UH-1 helicopter crash-landed at Sitio Lamsalo in Barangay Upper Suyan around 9:40 a.m.
"There were prevailing strong winds when the helicopter was about to land on the ground, thus, the helicopter crash-landed," Caber said.
Caber said the helicopter was on a casualty evacuation mission for the members of the Philippine Army's 73rd Infantry Battalion under the 10th Infantry Division when the incident happened.
He said the nine members of the PAF, including the helicopter's pilot and crew, who sustained light injuries, had been secured.
"We cannot release the names of the injured personnel as of now. Mag-request pa kami bukas (Sunday) kasi we have yet to inform their families first on the incident," Caber said.
Caber said additional helicopters from Tactical Operations Group in Davao Region have been dispatched to the area to continue the casualty evacuation mission.
