A LABORER was shot to death by alleged members of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade (RPA-ABB) at Purok Proper A, Siwahon Dos, Barangay V.F. Gustilo in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental on Thursday.
Killed was Jonathan Monares, 49.
Police records showed that Monares and his wife were on their way to work at 5:50 a.m. when they were waylaid by five unidentified men.
One of the five assailants fired at Monares using an unknown firearm, but left his wife unharmed.
Monares died on the spot.
Chief Inspector Rocky Desear, city police chief, said in an interview with Aksyon Radyo Bacolod that the victim was previously held by the said group after he went berserk while under the influence of intoxicating liquor.
He was released after he was warned.
Police are still checking other motives that triggered the group to commit the crime.
Desear said that the gunman was identified by the victim’s wife.
Murder charges are being readied against the gunman and his four companions.
