APALIT Mayor Peter Nucom advised residents and investors on Monday, January 8, to pay their taxes promptly and avail themselves of the local government’s one-stop shop services.
During Monday’s flag raising ceremony held at the municipal hall grounds, Nucom said the local government offers up to 10 percent discount to early bird taxpayers who can pay until January 20.
“Iwasan na natin iyong last-minute payment at magbayad ng mas maaga para mawala na iyong interes at penalty at makatipid pa kayo sa early bird discount (Let's avoid last-minute payment. Pay early to avoid interest and penalties and to be able to get a discount),” he said.
He said the Municipal Treasurer’s Office is currently conducting assessment activities on all the businesses and shops all over the municipality to monitor the total number of supposed registrants.
Aside from business permits, Nucom also reminded land owners to settle their real property taxes, as well as for residents to secure their community tax certificates as part of their legal identification.
With the continuous information dissemination conducted by local government, Nucom said he is hopeful to surpass 2017’s almost P40-million overall tax collection, which will be used for the developmental projects in town.
He said several infrastructure programs and social programs are set this year aimed to further develop Apalit and its people.
“Ang pagbabayad ng tax ay hindi isang option kundi obligasyon natin sa bayan. Lahat ng makokolekta natin ay gagamitin para sa mga programa ng munisipyo, lalo na ang ating mga scholars and medical assistance para sa mga kababayan natin na may sakit (Paying taxes is our obligation, not an option. We will use all our collections for the Municipal Government's programs, especially for our scholars, as well as assistance for our sick fellowmen),” he said.
