Rain or shine, jaywalkers still to be apprehended

THE Davao City Transportation and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) said there will be no let-up on anti-jaywalking apprehensions despite the rainy weather.

CTTMO head Dionisio Abude, in an interview Monday, January 8, said enforcers will implement the Anti-Jaywalking ordinance rain or shine.

"We won't have any [letup] in our implementation even during rains or hot weather. For as long as there is a violation seen by enforcers, they will implement. In case they have not brought their issued raincoat, they will really get wet in the implementation. We will have normal apprehensions even whatever the weather is," Abude said.

He said that based on their record, they have apprehended a total of 19,000 jaywalkers.

Aside from anti-jaywalking law, the CTTMO also recorded 31,000 violators for the punishable acts involving drivers.

According to Abude, a total of 25,000 drivers paid fines at the City Treasurer's Office and this means that only 6,000 were not able to settle.
