Drug surrender nabbed for robbery in village hall

A DRUG surrenderer was arrested after he stole money from the barangay hall of Granada village in Bacolod City on Sunday.

Collared was Richard Dy, 34.

Police records showed that Dy entered the village hall at 6:15 p.m. on January 7 and forcibly opened a drawer by destroying its padlock.

He carted away the village’s collection amounting to P23,000 and another cash amounting to P3,000.

The incident was discovered by Geraldine Ramos, 40, an employee of the village hall, at 9:30 a.m. the following day, prompting her to call for police assistance.

In a follow-up operation, Dy was arrested at his house at 1:40 p.m. after he was positively identified by Ramos and councilman Nogi Vito.

A male teenager was arrested after he was caught stealing a cellular phone from a young man at corner Gatuslao-Luzuriaga Streets, Barangay 13, Bacolod City Sunday afternoon.

Police identified the suspect as Bernard Binigay, 19, of Purok Pag-asa, Barangay Estefania.

Records of Police Station 1 showed that Gazelle John Claur, 21, of Barangay Taculing was walking in front of a shoe store at 3:35 p.m. when Binigay suddenly took his cellular phone worth P7,000. The victim fought back. They were seen by police officers deployed in the area.

Binigay was then arrested and the item was recovered from him.

Nabbed

Three brothers were arrested by virtue of an arrest warrant at Sitio Malindog, Barangay Bagonbon and Old Terminal in Barangay 2, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on January 6.

The three were the Eyas siblings Jason, 29, a farmer; Wilfred, 32, a farmer; and Junrey, 30, an electrician.

Personnel of San Carlos City Police Station in coordination with the Maritime Police and Regional Mobile Force Battalion-Western Visayas served the warrant for frustrated murder to the three suspects around 7 a.m.

The arrest warrant was issued by Judge Kathrine Go of Regional Trial Court Branch 59 in the city.

The court has set a bail of P200,000 each for their provisional liberty.

All three are detained at the station.
