Apan naugdaw man ang tanan nilang kabtangan lakip na ang ilang costumes ug ang halos 100 Sto. Nino icons nilang collection, wala ni makaguba sa ilang pagsalig ug talento nga giisip nilang gasa pa gikan sa Milagrusong Bata. Val Sandiego, Pit Senyor!!! Ssssuper Ka!!!
Kada tuig gyud mo manayaw sa Sinulog?
Wala pa mi naminyo sa akong asawa (Ofelia Zozobrado-Sandiego), for the past 38 years since the Sinulog started, hangtod karon kada tuig mi manayaw. If you want to compete you have to raise money. Even Cebu City and province of Cebu naglisud gani og daug because of neighboring towns and municipalities, who are more budgeted. I think the real essence of the festival is dili man ang competition, it’s your devotion and faith.
Unsay blessings nimo gikan ni Senor Sto. Nino?
Dili lang sa akoa kundi sa akong pamilya. Kaluoy sa Ginoo sukad pagkabata wa gyud nay sakit akong upat ka mga anak. Daghan moduol namong mga kaila aron magpatabang sa ilang petisyon ug maorag 100% nangaayo gyud tanan sa ilang sakit.
Asa na ron imong mga anak?
I have three children who all work now in Orlando. Naa man koy dancer nga nag-base didto. Duna sad silay grupo sa Orlando nga manayaw og Sinulog. Sukad mga bata pa, kada tuig na sila apil sa Sinulog. Ang naa sa Cebu ang ako rang lalaki.
Kinsay naka-influence ninyo sa sayaw?
Akong mom, Luz Mancao Sandiego, was the first one who put up a dance studio in Cebu way back 1947 after the war. She founded the University of San Carlos Dance Troupe and was a former president of Physical Education Teachers Association in Cebu. My mom was the one who researched for the resource person in Sinulog during the time of former Cebu City Mayor Florentino Solon. My mom died last May at the age of 91.
Unsay imong gipangayo ni Sr. Sto Nino?
Daghan kaayo kong gipangayo, labi na ang canonization ni Teofilo Camomot. I don’t know how long will it take, bisan 10 or 20 years, but what I ask for is that buhi pa unta mi sa akong asawa to witness the canonization kay taga amoa gud na sa Carcar and we belong to the same barangay sa Cogon. We have a property next to their ancestral house, so dako kaayo namong garbo, that’s what I’m trying to ask, beg and even kneel to Sr. Santo Nino kay it’s a blessing to witness all these big milestone in our Catholic faith.
